what you
need to know
-
Two classic plays in one secret location.
Double Feature brings you into the room with epic theater, illuminating classic works through intimate site-specific staging and contemporary reinterpretation.
Two directors take on two plays by the same dead playwright creating wildly different productions that run side-by-side.
-
Think Shakespeare, the Greeks, Chekhov, Ibsen… any dead playwright you might have a preconceived notion about.
Classical work is filled with extraordinary language, images, and universal situations. Sadly, a lot of people feel alienated/left out/bored by these classics, and Double Feature wants to change that. We want to share with you all of the cool, sexy, thrilling, chaotic, violent, gorgeous things inside these plays without any of the pretenses.
By creating intimate and immediate experiences with these plays, we aim to illuminate the classics for new audiences - or a new relationship with the classics for old audiences.
-
Sure. Maybe. Depends on what you mean. Our venues are not theatrical, they don’t have a pre-defined audience area, and you might be surrounded by actors. You might not. You might be asked to change your location. You might not.
Double Feature productions ARE:
Scripted, narrative theatrical productions using site-specific stagings.
Double Feature productions are NOT:
Sandbox experience where you are asked to wander alone.
Interactive theater: you will never be required to interact with a performer, be touched by a performer, or required to have a conversation during the show.
-
Yes - if it’s a Double Feature day, one show will run immediately after the other (with a short break).
To see both shows you must buy TWO separate tickets. BUY MIDSUMMER TICKETS and BUY MACBETH TICKETS.
It’s also cool if you only want to see one. Seeing both shows is not mandatory.
